respectablestreetcomics:

I’m working on a new comic project. It’s a series of illustrations based around situations where it would be advantageous to be a large bear, rather than my tiny self. My biggest aim is to make people laugh, but there is some weight behind some of the comics I will be including in this series.

The panels above were inspired by the countless times I have been subjected to overhearing derogatory language in public. While I always speak up when I overhear hurtful/hateful words, I sometimes feel like it’s not enough. I understand that violence is not a solution, but in the wake of overwhelming frustration, I’ve gained great satisfaction from imagining bodily harm to those with closed minds.

Also, in the past year I’ve come to realize that I’m not invincible as I had previously believed. My personality might be larger than life, but my body isn’t. It’s fun to entertain the thought of a Baier/Bear transformation in difficult situations.

Ridiculous? Yes. Do I care? No.

I’m hoping to print this as a mini-comic before the Richmond Zine Fest at the beginning of October.

first off SPOILERS

(click for big) You know, the more I think about these two, the sadder it seems to me. For Hawkeye, obviously, because being mind-controlled sucks and is traumatizing, but also kind of for Loki, because he just like, steals himself a friend? Loki seems completely incapable of actually making friends for himself. Even before he was evil, on Asgard, Thor was the only person who seemed to halfway want him around, and made his friends just kind of tolerate him.

Anyway, I took these sad thoughts and turned them into a doofy comic, as usual.
